Hazy Glamour: A Family-Centric Interior Design Masterpiece

Andersen Chiu's Award-Winning Residential Design

Exploring the intricate balance between functionality and aesthetics, Andersen Chiu's "Hazy Glamour" redefines residential interior spaces, prioritizing safety and family bonding through innovative design.

At the heart of "Hazy Glamour" lies the vision to create a safe, adaptive, and engaging environment for a young family. Chiu's approach to the layout plan is child-centric, with curvilinear transitions ensuring safety and fluidity within the space. The dining area, conceptualized as a communal hub, fosters parent-child interactions, with a long table and bench setting the stage for shared experiences and growth.

The design's unique properties lie in its understated color palette and textural contrasts. The Wabi-Sabi-inspired faux-aged wall coating juxtaposes modernity with a sense of imperfection, while the interplay of sunlight on copper elements injects vitality into the serene space. The cohesion of metal, wood, and neutral hues, alongside the strategic use of curves, crafts an atmosphere of elegance and comfort.

Chiu's realization technology employs rounded shapes to mitigate the harshness of interior angles, enhancing child safety and visual appeal. The integration of metallic, curvy-shaped cabinets in the kitchen and living room not only serves a functional purpose but also adds a sculptural quality to the everyday.

The design spans 92.56 square meters, a testament to Chiu's ability to maximize space without compromising on style or substance. Invisible doors and a harmonious color scheme maintain the space's unity, while clever storage solutions and lighting design amplify the home's practicality and warmth.

Executed in New Taipei City within a span of six months, "Hazy Glamour" is a product of meticulous planning and creative problem-solving. The design's success is rooted in research that optimizes space utilization, such as transforming an odd-shaped entryway into a functional storage area, and extending the wood-veneered ceiling and stone flooring to delineate zones seamlessly.

Chiu's design challenges were met with innovative solutions, such as integrating metal elements with the dining table and pendant lights to create a cohesive dining experience. The strategic use of lighting complements the interior finishes, while the bold copper shelf against the white TV unit wall panel introduces a modern, innovative touch.

"Hazy Glamour" is not just a space but a narrative of sense and sensibility, where the tangible warmth of a home is felt through its design. The project's commitment to eco-friendly materials further solidifies its status as a sustainable and inviting abode for a family of four, where every element is a chapter in their shared story.

Andersen Chiu's "Hazy Glamour" has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2024. This accolade celebrates the project's practicality, innovation, and its embodiment of industry best practices, ultimately contributing to a better world through design excellence.
